Extremely Unsafe, Claustrophobic and the Worst Support I've Ever Seen

Shortly after checking into this hotel, I had left to go grab dinner while my partner stayed at the room. A half hour later, I get an urgent call from her asking me to turn back - there was a drunken man violently knocking and trying to open the door. Being alone, she was terrified and did not know what to do. The hotel staff was unable to restrain the man and the police had to be called to escort him out. Thankfully, I had a friend that lived nearby that was able to escort her to a safe location as I was too far away to get there in time. Needless to say, this unacceptable breach of safety led me to go to the hotel and check out immediately, as it was unsafe for her to stay. The receptionist tried to assure me that since the man was escorted out, the hotel was now perfectly safe, which made no sense since their own security was unable to contain this situation without the assistance of the local police. Further, they refused to take responsibility, stating that they cannot control who comes into their hotel. They also refused any sort of refund for this experience. I was asked to contact Mr. JP Chowdhary from The Maureen's management to debate the refund. I was treated with terrible customer service from this man, who refused to provide a refund and stated the incident was not the hotel's fault or responsibility. After he also refused to even apologise for this experience, this only proved to me that this is a hotel that is not at all committed to providing a safe and pleasant stay to its customers. If such an obvious threat to someone's life and safety leaves them unfazed, there is nothing left to look into. Additionally, despite having spent extra to book their "Premium Room", we were greeted with an extremely small and claustrophobic space, with no more than 3 feet of space to walk on each side of the bed. Can't comment on the food, because our safety was not guaranteed and hence could not stay for any of the meals. While unfortunate incidents are sometimes unavoidable, the manner in which the hotel handled it speaks for the quality of service you are bound to receive at the Maureen. I would very strongly recommend against staying here for the sake of your safety and comfort.

Great location, beautiful surrounding atmosphere, great staff. Most friendly and helpful receptionist Sudeep and Jaya. Food was good and great value for money and service was attentive and efficient. One suggestion please make Sambar more sweeter. Thanks for good service.

Excellent staff and service in a cozy place. Restaurant is very good even for a vegetarian and Jain type food. Sudeep and Jaya at front office have been very cordial in dealing with every requests. Took care of extra person easily with extra bed.
